A Senate and separate Assembly bill both involving LGBT children passed their respective houses in the Nevada Legislature on Tuesday.
Assembly Bill 99 requires foster parents to undergo training on issues related to raising LGBT children. It passed 18-2, with one lawmaker absent, Senator Patricia Spearman (District 1).
Senate Bill 201 bans the use of conversion therapy on minors. It passed 15-5 and now heads to the Assembly. If passed, and signed by Governor Sandoval, Nevada will become the sixth state to pass a law banning the practice that claims to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
